Novel Data Designs

The task force’s aim is to take pre-prepared datasets to the next level by updating existing ones to better support high-quality research and by developing new datasets.

Authorities – such as municipalities, wellbeing services counties, hospitals, courts of law and the Finnish Centre for Pensions – maintain registers that contain large amounts of information, of which only a small proportion is currently accessible to researchers. Developing new ready-made register data modules will give researchers the opportunity to explore entirely new topics.

The working force seeks, among other things, to improve the content of existing datasets and to develop new ones, for example by incorporating additional datasets from data controllers into the infrastructure.
