FIRE workshop Nov 20: Teaching dataset / participants’ own analyses

The next FIRE workshop will be held in Tampere on Friday, 20 November 2026, from 12:00 to 15:45The preliminary topics will include:

  1. depending on their state of progress, demos and possibly exercises related to the new FIRE teaching datasets and the pilot online course
  2. The second part will consist of a workshop on participants’ own analyses. The purpose of this session is to focus on the research process: how datasets have been combined, how variables have been constructed or modified, what methodological choices have been made, what others might learn from these choices, and where presenters would particularly welcome the community’s views on research design, methodological decisions, and related issues.

We hope for broad participation from register-based researchers across different disciplines, as well as support and contributions from experienced colleagues. If participants wish, we can also include papers submitted in advance for discussion and help find suitable commentators for them.

Any suggestions or requests are very welcome—please feel free to send suggestions to us, and we will be happy to take them into account.
